Students Conduct Live Conversation With Orbiting NASA Astronauts
Excerpt:The downlink is an annual event held in honor of International Education Week, a joint effort between the Department of State and the Department of Education that commemorates the advantages of international education and exchange. Approximately 130 pupils from D.C.'s Stuart-Hobson Middle School got involved in-person in the Moving Beyond Earth Gallery at the museum. The rest of the pupils got involved practically from around the nation. Picked pupils from both audiences had the opportunity to ask questions of Ford and Williams about life, work and research aboard the orbiting laboratory. Following the live Earth-to-station exchange, NASA Associate Administrator for Education and two-time space shuttle astronaut Leland Melvin provided a presentation and motivated the pupils to study science, innovation, engineering and math (STEM). "You are the scientists, engineers and astronauts of tomorrow," Melvin said.

Key:
- Aggregate Sentiment is meant to be an indicator of an individual's overall sentiment.
- The Mean is meant to be an indicator of an individual's average comment sentiment.
- The Standard Deviation, when there are enough quotes, will indicate an individual's consistency of sentiment (i.e. a Standard Deviation of 0 would mean they were very consistent in their sentiment and 1 would mean they were very inconsistent).
Note that quote stats are likely to be meaningless beyond the aggregate score due to the tiny sample size. However, they are always provided just in case you find something useful there.
