Hunger would seem to be a fairly straightforward instinct: Depending on how much you eat, you either will or you won't be hungry afterward. As it turns out, our relationship to food may not be so simple. In recent years, a growing body of research has shown that our appetite and food intake are influenced by an array of factors besides our biological need for energy, including our eating environment and our perception of the food in front of us. Studies have shown, for instance, that eating in front of the TV (or a similar distraction) can increase both hunger and the amount of food consumed. Likewise, people's food intake appears to be susceptible to their surroundings, such as the eating behavior—and body size—of their dining companions. Even simple visual cues, like plate size and lighting, have been shown to affect portion size and consumption.

Key:

  • Aggregate Sentiment is meant to be an indicator of an individual's overall sentiment.
  • The Mean is meant to be an indicator of an individual's average comment sentiment.
  • The Standard Deviation, when there are enough quotes, will indicate an individual's consistency of sentiment (i.e. a Standard Deviation of 0 would mean they were very consistent in their sentiment and 1 would mean they were very inconsistent).

Note that quote stats are likely to be meaningless beyond the aggregate score due to the tiny sample size. However, they are always provided just in case you find something useful there.
